Min Woo: Goblin Village

After fighting the Soggy River Monster, we continued following Mr. Proudstump's directions and ended up in the Licktoad Goblin Village. I expected a big fight at once like what happened by the bridge but it seems someone or something has beaten our group to the punch.

The village was in ruins. From the looks of it, my companions think that something attacked the village leaving only a few of the huts standing. At the urging of the dwarf, we checked one of these huts and found a handful of the members of the licktoad tribe cowering in fear. I tried calming them down with my music but one of them attacked up. The rumors of the goblins having fireworks as weapons were proven to be true. Half of the goblins fell asleep from my song magic but we had to subdue and/or kill the rest with out weapons. I don't know if we're gonna make heads or tails of what happened here.

Koru: Bow disclaimer - Accuracy not included

Doubt crept through the mind of Koru as he investigated the strangely abandoned and destroyed goblin village where their quarry was supposed to be.  Serious doubt of his archery abilities the likes of which he had never before felt.  It started at the encounter with the creepy doppleganger at the halfling warden's home, where he couldn't even hit the creature even though it was so close.  And it steadily built up when they were ambushed by the aberrant monster at the bridge.  Unable to bring his bow to good use, the feelings of disappointment and envy were almost too much to bear.   Thus he had sullenly and dejectedly led the party into the goblin ruins.

Now, he faced his latest test.  A band of goblin village stragglers were raging around them.  Parley had failed with them and they associated us with the people who burned down their village.  Min Woo, the bard sang a spell on the rabble lot and got a few of them incapacitated, but the rest were a hardy bunch.  Koru nocked an arrow to his bow and apprehensively targeted the nearest amok goblin...

Sin Spawn by the Bridge

The three companions were crossing one of the bridge that led to the goblin village. Koru managed to spot a grotesque creature before it could manage to ambush them.

The monster took a couple of bites off the dwarf while Min Woo and Randie tried to fed the creature off.

"It's a sin spawn!" Randie muttered. "Why is this swamp full of vile abominations?"

Min Woo gave an ear-piercing scream, hoping to deafen the monster with his vocal assault. But the sin spawn continued lumbering towards the heroes.

"No!" Randie muttered as he swung his morningstar. The weapon struck the creature's chest, shattering several ribs. The young man sensed an unseen spectral presence that guided his hands and help his aim strike true.

"Good job!" Min Woo muttered as the creature scrambled up and started to run away. The young bard drew another dagger and threw it at the monster.

The sin spawn howled in pain as the dagger struck his back, severing his spine. It feel at the bottom of the bridge, rigid and lifeless.

MW: Soggy River Monster Ambush

The party was in high spirits after a good night's sleep at the Proudstump shack. Min Woo was regaling Randal about the tale of the past heroes of Sandpoint who saved the village from the goblin attack four years past. They have just crossed the second bridge and he was just at the part where the party descended into the catacombs under the village and fought a demonspawn when Koru the dwarf gave low growl.

It seems that one of the demonspawns in Min Woo's story has taken form and is not attacking the dwarf and even mananaged to take a bite off the monk. Taken by surprise, Randal only had enough time to cast a shielding spell while Min Woo began singing another song directed at the creature.

The bard was only two lines down the "Rolling in the Deep" song when he stopped and realized that the monster's mind was too alien to be affected by any of his songs and spells.

"Looks like we're in for a big and nasty fight this time." Min Woo stated as he hefted his shield and drew his sword.

Randie: A Shapeshifter in the House

After following the swamp trail, we stumbled upon Mr. Proudstump's old house. The recluse halfling has been living in the marshland for some years now, raising his pet snakes. Min Woo thought he was the best person to ask about the goblins.

We met the halfling, who was resting after a snake bit him. I offered to take a look at his wounds, but became agitated when Min Woo started rumaging through his things.

I was shocked when the halfling transformed into a gruesome faceless abomination. The creature apparently ambushed the real Mr. Proudstump, wounded him, and took his identity. We managed to subdue the creature and rescue the halfling.

Mr. Proudstump was grateful for our help. Koru and the half elf began asking him questions about the goblin tribe. I had no chance to talk to him privately about Old Megus.

We spent the night at the halfling's house. Mr. Proudstump told us everything he knew about his neighbors, the goblins. He told us that they had recently discovered some fireworks and have been using this to attack travelers going to Sandpoint. He gave us his cloak as a token of gratitude (which Min Woo wore) and said we are welcome to stay as long as we like.

MW: Shack Attack

Well what do you know? It is contagious!

After crossing several moss covered bridged (slimy! eww!), the party finally found the shack... the old shack that is. We were greeted by a paranoid halfling which I could only presume to be the swamp warden. It took him some convincing before he talked with us and let us inside his really messy place. He didn't look good and Randie offered to patch him up. Randie says he might be poisoned so I looked around for some anti-venom. That trigerred the halfling's temper and went all monster on me! As in really transformed into a monster and started attacking us!

Thanks Shelyn (goddess of beauty, art and musc), I managed to catch it with the magic of my song. It did took me a couple of tries but the monster eventually was subdued.

It turned out it was some sort of copycat and the real warden was up and well (well mostly up and well). We'll finally be able to realy find out about the goblins now!

Randie: Into the Swamp

It has been years since Randie last ventured into Brinestump swamp. He remembered there were several trails leading deep into the heart of the marshland. One of those paths brought him to Old Megus's hut.

His dwarf and half-elf companions were preoccupied discussing which of the two paths to take. Randie kept quiet, feeling strangely uncomfortable and agitated.

"You've been here before?" Koru asked him.

"No. I've never stepped foot on the swamp."

The three men crossed an old bridge, leading further into the muddy terrain. Randie felt cold fingers brush across his nape. The young man saw, from the corner of his eyes, a ghostly apparition watching him. He looked away, pretending not to notice the spirit.
